What is e-Waybill in 2024?

An e-waybill, short for electronic waybill, is a digital document that contains details about the transportation of goods from one place to another. It is generated and maintained electronically, and serves as proof of the movement of goods in domestic deliveries (inside country borders).
The e-waybill contains important information such as the names and addresses of the sender and recipient of the goods, the goods description, the quantity of the goods being transported, the vehicle number or shipment ID, the date and time of dispatch, and the expected delivery date. E-waybills are a part of digitalization efforts in logistics and transportation industries, aimed at simplifying and streamlining documentation generation and management.

e-Waybill in Cargoson TMS

Here is a general overview of how Cargoson TMS e-waybill works:

  1. E-waybill generation: The first step is to generate an e-waybill for the goods being transported. The Cargoson TMS system provides an easy-to-use interface for generating e-waybills, where you can input the required information such as the sender and receiver details, transport mode, goods description, and other relevant details.
  2. E-waybill digital signing: Once the e-waybill is generated, the e-waybill will be digitally signed and logged (person name, location & timestamp) based on the shipment tracking milestones to ensure the authenticity of the document. When a shipment milestone ("Collected" & "Delivered") is updated, a digital signature is added to the document, which acts as a unique identifier for the signer. This is done to ensure that the e-waybill is not tampered with, and that the information contained in the document is reliable and accurate.
  3. E-waybill sharing: After digital signing, the e-waybill can be automatically shared with all relevant parties - supplier (loading place), goods receiver (unloading place) and carrier. This ensures that everyone involved in the shipment has access to the necessary information and can track the progress of the shipment.
  4. E-waybill management: The Cargoson TMS system also provides features for managing e-waybills throughout the transportation process. This includes updating and modifying e-waybill information as needed, logging the e-waybill status, and ensuring that tax and law authorities could get necessary document when requested so.

NB! Cargoson TMS e-Waybill (eCMR) is integrated with the international eFTI-gate system and complies with the eFTI Regulation (Electronic Freight Transport Information).
